The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

Book 36 of 52:

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer.

I saw that Netflix turned this into a movie and decided to give it a try before watching it. I’m SO glad I did. This book, written in a series of letters, tells the story of a woman in post-WWII London as she searches for the subject of her next book and coincidentally begins to write to a group of people on the Channel Islands known as the Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society. She learns of how they survived the German occupation of the Channel Islands, and how a pig and a love of reading brought them together as a community and as friends.
